About the Series

Scope and publication model

AURA Supplements is the monograph series associated with the Athens University Review of Archaeology (AURA), published by the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. It publishes original scholarly monographs and edited volumes on the archaeology, art and material culture of the broader Greek world, from earliest prehistory to the modern era, including related interdisciplinary research. Contributions may be submitted in Greek or English.

Each supplement is published as an individual book with its own bibliographic record. The series is organised by volume rather than by annual journal issues. ISBNs and other identifiers are recorded for each title where assigned.

Peer review

Submissions are initially assessed by the series editors for relevance, originality and compliance with the submission guidelines. Manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by two external specialists. Where the recommendations differ substantially, a third independent reviewer may be consulted. The editors decide whether to accept, request revisions or reject a manuscript on the basis of its scholarly quality and the reviews.

Authors must remove identifying information from the review manuscript and file metadata and supply author details separately. Editors check the review materials for identifying information. Reviewers remain anonymous to authors, and review correspondence is handled confidentially. For edited volumes, volume editors coordinate the contributions and revisions in consultation with the series editors.

Publication ethics

Editors and reviewers must disclose conflicts and withdraw from handling work where their impartiality could be affected. Ethical concerns are assessed in accordance with the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Appropriate action may include rejection, correction or retraction.
